WHITE HILLS Releases "Eye To Eye" Single

New York City psychotropic fuzz rock duo WHITE HILLS has unveiled a brand-new single entitled “Eye To Eye.”

“Eye To Eye” was recorded during the sessions for WHITE HILLS’ last album The Revenge Of Heads On Fire. The standalone metal/punk monster culminates with a heavy psyched out guitar solo sprawling over a bass and drum freak-out that lays waste to any preconceived notions of what “heavy” is. Featuring guest vocals from one of the band’s early collaborators Danny Morton, the lyrics on “Eye To Eye” are an enigmatic retelling of the timeless David And Goliath story: “Look into the eyes of the giant. He’s staring at you eye to eye.”

In related news, WHITE HILLS will return to Austin, Texas next week for a SXSW appearance on Saturday, March 18th from 11:00-11:40pm at The 13th Floor. The band is excited to finally get back to SXSW since their planned 2020 performance was cancelled along with the rest of the festival. Guitarist/vocalist/sonic alchemist Dave W and drummer/rhythm dominatrix Ego Sensation will play material from their latest release The Revenge Of Heads On Fire.

WHITE HILLS:

3/18/2023 SXSW @ The 13th Floor – Austin, TX

WHITE HILLS released their The Revenge Of Heads On Fire full-length last Fall via their own Heads On Fire Industries. Harnessing the energy of ferocious, hedonistic rock with blissful passages of dark ambience, the record explores themes of mortality, transformation, and rebirth. Together, the duo reveals a spiritual depth unparalleled in previous works. The roar of fire, swirling of oceans, and hallucinogenic visions can be heard throughout the seventy-five-minute journey.

The record consummates Dave W.’s prototype for the 2007’s Heads On Fire, released on Rocket Recordings and later picked up by Thrill Jockey. Six rediscovered songs accompany re-mixed versions of the original material, fulfilling the master arch of the pyre lit long ago. Recorded during the band’s tumultuous early years, the music vibrates with the energy and volatility of a sonic boom. The Revenge Of Heads On Fire was named Top Psych Album of 2022 by Record Collector Magazine as well as making several other year-end lists including The Quietus and PBS Melbourne.

The Revenge Of Heads On Fire is available on CD, LP, and digital formats. Find ordering options at the official WHITE HILLS Bandcamp page where the record can be streamed in full.

Rising to prominence after their performance in Jim Jarmusch’s vampire romance Only Lovers Left Alive, WHITE HILLS have garnered a cult reputation as a fierce, genre-bending duo. Mashing elements of krautrock, post-punk, psychedelic rock, metal and electronica, each new WHITE HILLS release progresses and transcends, hyper-conscious of society’s constant desire for a new and better drug.

Hailed by Pitchfork for their “loud, exhilarating and unhinged” live performances, WHITE HILLS tours extensively internationally with a long history of notable performances at heavyweight festivals including Primavera Sound, Levitation, ATP, and Roadburn as well as a number of upcoming 2023 appearances including SXSW, DesertFest NYC, and Poland’s largest metal event, Mystic Festival.
